Reading
I can't stress the importance of reading daily. It is essential that we help your children build up their reading fluency and understanding in Year 2 and beyond.
In order for them to improve their confidence in reading we teach them the following comprehension strategies:
- Making connections from their understanding from what they have read.
- Understanding vocabulary and building knowledge of new vocabulary.
- Looking for key words in a question and then retrieving it in the text.
- Predicting what might happen next.
- Inferring what an answer might be based on clues in the text.
- Being able to sequence events in the correct order.
