Practising spellings regularly is very important because it helps children become confident writers and readers. When children know how to spell words correctly, they can focus more on their ideas and less on thinking about how to write each word. Learning spellings also helps children recognise words when reading and improves their vocabulary. Little and often practice helps children remember spellings and develop strong literacy skills for the future.
