On Wednesday 4th November, our children will have the opportunity to meet Nekoda Smythe-Davis, a Team GB judoka and Olympian.
Nekoda's journey into sport began when she attended a judo demonstration at her primary school. Inspired to give it a try, she joined after-school classes and quickly developed a passion for the sport. Through hard work, determination and resilience, she progressed from local competitions to representing Great Britain on the world stage, competing at the Olympics, World Championships and many other international events.
As well as being an outstanding athlete, Nekoda is an inspiring role model. She is the first judoka to have a baby and then return to compete at the highest level of her sport. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated the important values that judo promotes, including respect, courage, humility, sincerity, friendship, modesty and self-control.
During her visit, Nekoda will speak to the children about her sporting journey, the importance of perseverance, setting goals and believing in yourself. She will share her experiences of competing for Team GB and encourage pupils to embrace challenges and work hard to achieve their ambitions.
We would also be grateful for any sponsorship families are able to give in support of this event. Donations can be made online by clicking here.
Every contribution, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated. The money raised will help to support greater physical activity opportunities and wellbeing initiatives for our children, enabling us to invest in resources, experiences and activities that promote healthy, active lifestyles across the school.
We hope that this event will inspire our pupils to be active, resilient and ambitious, while also helping us raise valuable funds to support the wellbeing and physical development of all children.
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to sharing this memorable experience with the children.
