We are now starting to complete our next phonics checks. Over the next few weeks the children will be assessed on
- Recall of all of the phonemes (including the digraphs and trigraphs)
- Letter Formation (including digraphs/trigraphs in a joined style)
- Blending words for reading
- Segmenting words for spelling
- Tricky words - Reading and then spelling (see list below)
The children will complete checks at their appropriate level.
Badgers
- Please practise quick recall of the sounds: s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, ck, e, u, r, h, b, f, l, ll, ff, ss, zz, j, v, w, x, y, z, qu, ch, sh, th/th, ng, ai, ee, igh, oa, oo/oo, ar, or, ur, ow, oi, ear, air, ure, er.
- Please practise blending and segmenting words with adjacent consonants e.g. frog, spot, blanket, sixteen.
- Phase 3 and 4 tricky words.
Rabbits
- Please practise quick recall of the sounds: s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, ck, e, u, r, h, b, f, l, ll, ff, ss, zz, j, v, w, x, y, z, qu, ch, sh, th/th, ng, ai, ee, igh, oa, oo/oo, ar, or, ur, ow, oi, ear, air, ure, er.
- Please practise blending and segmenting simple words containing the sounds listed above e.g. boat, ship, with, queen.
- Phase 2 and 3 tricky words.
Hedgehogs
- Please practise quick recall of the sounds: s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, ck, e, u, r, h, b, f, l, ll, ff, ss, zz, j, v, w, x, y, z, qu, ch, sh, th/th, ng, ai, ee, igh, oa, oo/oo, ar, or, ur.
- Please practise blending and segmenting CVC words, e.g. pen, top, hat, mop.
- If possible move on to simple words containing digraphs, e.g. goat, meet, fork, car.
