AIM HIGH BELIEVE, FLY HIGH ACHIEVE

Thursday 18th June 2020

Bonjour,

I hope you are all well today and ready for your learning. Usually one of the highlights for Puffins in the summer term is the class wedding. We plan, make, bake and  ensure our outfits are ready for the big day. There are flowers, cakes, a photographer, dancing and a church full of guests. I am so sorry that, this year, I have been unable to give you this experience. However, equipped with our puppets from yesterday, I am going to try and recreate the experience for you! I hope it works and that you have lots of fun.

English: Today we are going to role play a Christian wedding using puppets. The structure of the wedding is Service, reception, speeches and first dance. Position your key roles for the start of the service. Groom, best man and vicar at the front of the pretend church and the bride, her father and bridesmaid at the back. Play the bridal march for the bride etc to process to the groom. The vicar then leads the service welcoming everybody to the wedding of x and y. Then ask if anyone know why they cant be joined, then says will you take x to be your lawfully wedded wife? Repeat for the groom. Add for richer for poorer and sickness and in health....

I now proclaim you husband and wife. Say the prayer you have written, sing the hymn. Then everybody walks down the aisle to the wedding march. Arrange your puppets for photos and throw some pretend confetti. Move to the reception and pretend to eat. Then the father of the bride can say his speech, followed by the groom and finally the best man. I hope the joke is a good one! After the speeches move to the first dance. Play perfect. Bride and groom start the dancing and then everyone else joins in. Please take pictures and send them in so that I can keep a record of this special day.

Spelling:Today we are going to practise compound words. Play the compound word warm up and then complete the wordsearch.

Maths: Today we are going to reason and problem solve with money. Tell the children you have three coins in your hand. How much could you have? Talk about all the different possibilities. Now work through the powerpoint and then see if you can complete the activity sheet. There is a challenge if you want it!

Topic: Today we are going to learn about the jobs people do and the things we might need to do to get a job in the future. Work through the powerpoint and then complete the activity sheet.

Finish the day with some quiet reading.
