AIM HIGH BELIEVE, FLY HIGH ACHIEVE

Monday 22nd June 2020

Welcome back to another wonderful week of learning.

I hope you had a great weekend and, fingers crossed, we should a little more sunshine this week. Hurray!

This week we are moving onto some new units of work. In English we are going to do some fantasy story work and in maths we are moving onto time. How quickly time seems to be flying by. We only have 4 weeks left of this term and of you being Puffins. Let's make it as good as it can be!

Have a good week everyone.

English: Today we are learning the features of a fantasy story. What do the children think a fantasy story is and can they name any fantasy books they have read? Work through the powerpoint stopping to discuss things on the way. Finish with the you tube clip and then complete the activity.

Spelling: Today we are learning how to use suffixes. Recap on the suffixes we learnt about last week.  Show them the work tall. Ask who is taller the you? Who is the tallest person? What have I done to the word tall? I have added -er and -est. Work through the powerpoint and have a go at writing some dictated sentences.

A snail is smaller than a frog.

An ant is small than a snail?

The ant is the smallest.

The ant is the quickest.

The snail is slower than the ant.

Maths: Today we are going to learn how to use time vocabulary to sequence events. What did you do before you learning today? What activity did you do first? Then what did you do? What is the final thing you will do today? You have sequenced activities using time vocabulary. Work through the powerpoint and then complete the activity sheet.

Topic: Those of you learning at home you have got a science experiment to try. Can you make a rainbow using different liquids. Follow the instructions and record what you find out. For those of us in school today we are going to create a giraffe with a long neck out of paper!

Finish the day with some quiet reading.
