The Enormous Turnip
The children have been enjoying learning lots about a range of traditional tales. We focused on the story 'The Enormous Turnip'. We added actions to the story and drew a class story map before the children drew their own. They then used these to help them retell the story and some of the children had a go at writing them. Next we learnt about lots of different fruits and vegetables and where and how they grow. The children then created their own innovations of the story by choosing a new vegetable and different characters to add to the story.
We have also been reading 'Supertato' and the children created their own fruit and vegetable superheroes!
Below you will find our whole class story maps. The children used one for 'The Enormous Turnip' retell and the second for the class innovation where were created our own versions by changing the vegetable and the characters.
